Design & Print
Challenge your sense of light and dark space with a cool Japanese technique termed Notan. Learn to create
designs with a wonderful feeling of balance and imagery. This truly changed my way of seeing art.
Building on our Notan designs, we’ll expand design possibilities. You’ll create and develop your own silkscreen.
Taking your design, we’ll transfer it to film. No frame or fancy equipment is needed. Reproducing imagery is fast,
and the screens can be used over and over. We’ll dye and paint fabric, then use your new screens to print on them.
Fast & fun! Friends will wonder, "How did you do that?"

Paint, then Sew!
Class focus is on creating a tapestry using painting on both white and ready made fabrics. Depth
and interesting effects are achieved by incorporating a variety of fabrics from velvets to sheers
then adding free motion embroidery, painting and printing.
